Where I live

I live in the Southern part of Hungary in Pécs, a city that was awarded in 2010 the EU capital of culture title.

Pécs is the fifth biggest city in Hungary and has a very old history. Just a few facts about it: the first university in Hungary was founded in Pécs in 1367; Pécs has a rich heritage from the age of a 150-year-long Ottoman occupation; in 1998 Pécs was given the UNESCO prize Cities for peace for maintaining the cultures of the minorities; in 2007 Pécs was third, in 2008 it was the second Livable city in the category of cities between 75,000 and 200,000 inhabitants (The LivCom Awards); in 2010, Pécs shared the title European Capital of Culture together with Essen and Istanbul; the city's motto is: "The Borderless City".
